In March of 1907, Congress passed the Expatriation Act, which decreed, among other items, that U.S. ladies who married non-citizens were no further Us citizens. If their spouse later on became a naturalized resident, they might feel the naturalization procedure to regain citizenship.

But none of those guidelines placed on men that are american they decided on a partner.
